Trying to work out the exact amount of concrete you need for your project can be taxing, to say the least.
With volumetric concrete mixers, the time-consuming, precise, onerous calculations, usually required when you utilise a more traditional drum concrete mixer to deliver your concrete, are now a thing of the past. You don’t need to worry about unexpected issues on site, such as over digging foundations, soft spots requiring more concrete or even changes in design, meaning less concrete is required, as with a volumetric mixer we can simply stop discharging concrete when you’ve got what you need, eliminating waste and potentially reducing your bill.
Wave goodbye to confusing calculations and on site changes meaning expensive over or under ordering and say hello to concrete delivered in exactly the quantities that you need it in, when you need it.
What is a volumetric mixer?
A truly groundbreaking piece of machinery, volumetric concrete mixers enable us to supply fresh quality concrete to our customers, which is produced as it is being discharged.
These mixers carry all of the ingredients necessary to make good quality concrete, in separate compartments, meaning that there’s no need to pre-order an exact amount of concrete or have a traditional drum-style concrete mixer churning concrete for long periods of time.
Volumetric mixers are built to produce concrete in specific quantities, as and when it’s required. This has a number of advantages over the more traditional approach of mixing and transporting ‘wet’ concrete.
1) There is no waste
One of the most ingenious things about volumetric mixers, is that there is no waste.
As concrete is mixed freshly on site, you can say ‘stop’ when you’ve had enough or ‘keep going’ if you need a bit more.
There’s no need to worry about what to do with excess concrete that you don’t need – as there simply won’t be any.
2) Never over or under order again
When you order concrete for delivery, there’s always been a fine balance between ordering enough to complete your project but not ordering too much so that you have to pay for what you don’t use or foot expensive waste disposal bills.
Projects can grind to a halt if not enough concrete is ordered and in the worst case scenarios, projects can actually be damaged by not having enough concrete at the right time.
With volumetric mixers, there’s no need to worry about having too much or too little concrete.
If you need a bit more than you thought, we can just mix more, there and then. No need to wait for us to go and get another batch of wet concrete.
3) Mix design can be changed on the same load
If you order pre-mixed ready-mix concrete, you could find that the mix you thought you originally needed isn’t quite right for your project when it arrives on site.
With volumetric concrete mixers, there’s no need to worry about this, as the mix and water content can be adjusted at any time on site.
Additionally, if you require a variety of different mixes on site for different parts of the job, we can do this in one load, avoiding the need for multiple trips back and forth and saving time, money and the environment.
4) Only pay for what you use
Order concrete to be delivered in a more traditional drum mixer and you could find that you end up paying for concrete that you don’t need. You may also get charged ‘part load charges’, which is when you have to pay for empty space in the drum mixer if you order less than a full load.
Using a volumetric mixer that mixes concrete on site, means that our customers only pay for what they use – not a penny more or less.
5) Friendly, flexible service
OK, so volumetric mixers aren’t particularly friendly, but bear with us.
Ordering your concrete to be delivered in a volumetric mixer means that buying concrete becomes a much more flexible process, as you don’t have to worry about exact amounts or paying for more than you need.
And here at CEC Ltd, we guarantee a friendly and knowledgable team member will deliver your concrete – so don’t be afraid to ask us questions, if you have any! We will try and do anything we can to make your project go smoothly.
